- 油画从西方传入中国已有400余年的历史，据载最早的油画是由西方传教士带入中国，有的传教士还被聘为宫廷画师。明代万历年间西方传教士罗明坚、利玛窦来中国时就带来了油画材料绘制的天主和圣母像，这大概就是最早进入中国的油画了。
- 1920年到1930年间，超现实主义成为欧洲艺术界的主流。超现实主义的艺术家除了受到达达主义的影响外，奥地利学者弗洛伊德（Sigmund Freud l856-1939）的“精神分析学说”也是很重要的影响
- 米罗1893年出生于西班牙的巴塞罗那，父亲是一位金匠和珠宝商。
