1. 油画是西方绘画最重要的画种之一。采用油画颜料绘制作品的历史可以追溯到中世纪，到15世纪才开始被广泛使用，16世纪中叶以后，油画达到相当完美的程度。
2. 第一个真正尝试将音乐展现在画布上的艺术家就是当时身居慕尼黑的俄国艺术家瓦西里·康定斯基（Wassily Kandinsky,1866-1944）。
3. 绘画中的印象主义是和法国文学中的自然主义流派相对应的。印象主义和自然主义都曾受到哲学上实证主义的影响。
