1. 在画画当中，马蒂斯平生第一次感觉到“自由、安宁和闲静”。马蒂斯用他自己的话说：“我好像被召唤着，从此以后我不再主宰我的生活，而它主宰我。”
2. 印象主义吸收了柯罗、巴比松画派以及库尔贝写实主义的营养，在19世纪现代科学技术(尤其是光学理论和实践)的启发下，注重在绘画中对外光的研究和表现。

1. 挂画也有改变屋子高度比例的视觉效果，如：室内天花板低矮，最好选直向画作；反之则适合横向画作。
2. 安静，并非指绝对没有声音。因为一个人的听觉通道在完全没有刺激作用的情况下，会使人有一种恐惧感，产生不舒服的感觉，造成工作效率下降。
3. 在较低的位置按照射灯，可以营造出星光的地面效果。
