- 从今天发现的遗物来考察，大概在两万年或一万五千年前，就已经有人画画了。
- 石溪(1612—1673)，亦名髡残,亦称髡残石溪,俗姓刘，字介丘，号石溪、白秃、残道人。湖南常德武陵(今鼎城区)人。
- 在十九世纪末，许多曾受到印象主义鼓舞的艺术家开始反对印象派，他们不满足于刻板片面的追求光色，强调作品要抒发艺术家的自我感受和主观感情，于是开始尝试对色彩及形体表现性因素的自觉运用，后印象派从此诞生。
