1. 塞尚曾在给一位青年画家的信中劝告他：“要以球形、圆锥和圆柱的观点去观察自然。” 意思是：在组成图画时，应该永远不忘那些基本实体形状。
2. 明末清初出现了四位著名的僧人大画家,他们是石涛、朱耷、弘仁、石溪四位
3. 在1905年的巴黎秋季沙龙中,一群青年美术家的作品参展,他们是H.马蒂斯﹑A.德兰﹑A.马尔凯﹑H.芒金﹑M.de弗拉曼克﹑G.鲁奥等人。在他们的作品中间,有一件展品比较写实,风格如意大利文艺复兴时代雕塑家多纳太罗的作品。批评家L.沃塞列斯在描述该展品时,用了”在一群野兽中间的一位真正的艺术家”这样一句话,把马蒂斯等年轻画家的画比作野兽,故名。
