1. 15世纪佛兰德斯画家凡·爱克在前人研究的基础上，发明了一种易于干涸的油彩混合颜料绘画的方法。因此他被称为油画的创始人，但比较合理的说法则是凡·爱克把油画这种艺术形式发展得更加完美了。
2. 石溪的山水画，在继承传统中，直逼古人，但却不为法缚，面向造化，自出机杼，造妙入神，因而被人们列入逸品和神品之中，是一般画家所不能达到的。
