- 印象主义吸收了柯罗、巴比松画派以及库尔贝写实主义的营养，在19世纪现代科学技术(尤其是光学理论和实践)的启发下，注重在绘画中对外光的研究和表现。
- 拉斐尔前派是兴起于十九世纪中期英国画坛上的一个画派, 1848年, 由英国青年画家罗塞蒂, 汉特, 米雷等人, 发起成立了拉斐尔前派兄弟会, 他们之所以定名为拉斐尔前派是因为他们认为文艺复兴全盛时期及以前的诗歌和艺术是那么尽善尽美
- 据记载，在油画被发明之前是采用一种叫作“丹培拉”的技法作画，由于这种方法不能满足画家的艺术表现和技法上的要求，于是画家们便开始不断探索，寻求新的表现材料和技法。
